In a bid to ensure that young people have access to Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) information, Coalition of Women living with HIV/AIDS in Malawi (COWHLA) organized a Community Talent Show for the youth in Chikwawa district.
The activity equipped the young patrons with the necessary SRH information in a friendly environment where young people were free and cheerful. COWHLA used this approach (Talent Show) in order to create a platform that was attractive to the young people. The activity further helped the youth to build their social skills and self-esteem through a number of activities that were lined up during the event.
“The activity was awesome and it gave us a chance to explore our talents and confront our fears of public appearance,” said one participant.
Among the key messages, young people were equipped with information on safe sex practices, gender equality, counselling on contraceptive use, as well as HIV prevention.
