Today marks, day 11 of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). GBV is a human rights issue and should be everyone’s concern.
Gender-based violence (GBV) is a human rights issue and should be a concern for everyone. GBV refers to any harmful act that is perpetrated against an individual based on their gender and it is mainly perpetrated against women and girls. GBV is manifested in various forms including sexual, physical, economic and emotional abuse.
GBV violates the fundamental human rights of individuals, affects their health and well-being, and it is also an expression of deep-rooted gender discrimination and inequalities. By addressing GBV, we can promote gender equality and work towards creating a more just and equitable society where all people enjoy their rights.
