Youth Advocates from Dedza and Machinga conducted a scorecard process to identify key advocacy issues in a bid to promote the rights and welfare of young people in the two districts.
Among other key issues, young people who participated in the exercise indicated that their areas are affected by frequent stock out of Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) commodities especially contraceptives, prevalent harmful cultural practices and lack of youth friendly centres in their designated areas.
The youth further explained that these three critical issues are contributing to increased cases of teenage pregnancies in their areas.
After identifying the issues, the Youth Advocates worked with the young participants to develop messages in order to get the attention of responsible duty bearers.
The activity was conducted with technical support from the Malawi SRHR Alliance under Power to Youth Project which is being implemented in Dedza and Machinga.
